Our prep football glance gives vital information for our local teams entering their weekly matchups. Learn your team's opponent, go-to players and the series history between the two throughout the season.

Kelly at Caruthersville

__Records:__ Kelly 2-4; Caruthersville 3-3 __Series History:__ Caruthersville leads 2-0 __Last Meeting:__ 2014, Caruthersville won 63-14 __Last Week:__ Kelly defeated Charleston 48-18; Caruthersville defeated Charleston 49-14 __Outlook:__ Kelly has won two-straight and is looking to avenge two losses to Caruthersville last season where they were outscored 123-32. The Hawks are led by senior Maurice Davis, who has three kickoff returns and two punt returns for touchdowns on the season. Davis has also rushed for six touchdowns, and had 142 yards rushing last week on just seven carries. Running back Matthew Burford also had a big game for Kelly last week, gaining 131 yards on 23 carries with three touchdowns. After allowing 48 points per game in their first four games, the Kelly defense has given up just 18 points in their last two games. That improved Hawk defense will be tested Friday by a Tigers' offense that has scored 135 points in their last three games. Quarterback Peyton Faulkner leads the Tigers through the ground and the air. The senior signal caller has rushed for 646 yards and 16 touchdowns while completing 21 of 53 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns. Running backs Rodrick Jones and Demarco Slaughter have also been torching opposing defenses gaining 402 yards and 374 yards respectively. Jones has two rushing touchdowns while Slaughter has found the endzone three times. Defensively, Caruthersville is allowing 26.5 points per game.

Kennett at Charleston

__Records:__ Kennett 5-1; Charleston 0-6 __Series History:__ Charleston leads 55-22-3 __Last Meeting:__ 2014, Kennett won 47-6 __Last Week:__ Kennett lost to Dexter 38-35; Charleston lost to Kelly 48-18 __Outlook:__ After winning their first five, Kennett is coming off a disappointing loss to Dexter, their 16th-straight to the Bearcats. Quarterback Edward Wilson, who had 23 touchdowns in the Indians first five games, was held to two touchdowns and 106 yards on 24 carries last week. The senior also threw for a touchdown last week and has led the Indians offense to 46.2 points per game on the season. Running back Jahaida Childress helps take up some of the slack in the backfield and Fred Gooden is the Indians' top receiver, catching two touchdown passes against Dexter last week. Kennett was allowing just 16.6 points per game until giving up 38 points to the Bearcats last week. Charleston's offense had their highest scoring output of the season, putting up 18 points on Kelly. The Bluejays entered their game with Kelly having gained just 352 yards all season and nearly equaled that against the Hawks with 334 yards, 315 of those coming on the ground. Charleston has only thrown for 77 yards all season. Senior Tennerious Ewing has began taking some snaps at quarterback and has gained 149 yards in his last two games. Freshman Q'narious Anderson showed his big-play potential last week, gaining 122 yards on just six carries with two touchdowns. The Charleston defense has allowed a SEMO Conference worst 291 points and have lost 17-straight games.

NMCC at Dexter

__Records:__ NMCC 1-5; Dexter 2-4 __Series History:__ NMCC leads 19-10 __Last Meeting:__ 2014, Dexter won 28-19 __Last Week:__ NMCC lost to Caruthersville 49-14; Dexter defeated Kennett 38-35 __Outlook:__ The struggles at NMCC continued last week as the Eagles allowed 444 yards and 49 points to conference foe Caruthersville. The Eagles are allowing 46.5 points per game while scoring just 15.8 points per game. To make matters worse for NMCC, quarterback Tyler Sprouse missed last week's game with an injury and running back Chris Farr was injured in Friday night's contest. The status on both was unknown at press time but if Sprouse can't go, junior Brock Blakey figures to take snaps. Last week, Blakey completed 3 of 12 passes for 38 yards. The Eagles will have to rely heavily on speedster Javarcus Word as the junior gained 125 yards on 24 carries last week and two touchdowns, giving him seven rushing touchdowns on the season. Dexter shocked undefeated Kennett last week, beating the Indians for the 16th-straight time. Much of the damage for the Bearcats was done by quarterback Ethan Stevens. The senior gained 291 yards on 34 carries and three touchdowns while completing 5 of 8 passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Dexter's young offensive line dominated Kennett as the Bearcats picked up 358 total yards rushing on the night. Defensively, Dexter kept Kennett standout Edward Wilson under wraps for most of the game, holding the Indians to nearly 14 points under their season average. For the season Dexter is allowing 37 points per game.

East Prairie at Portageville

__Records:__ East Prairie 4-2; Portageville 3-3 __Series History:__ Portageville leads 50-26-2 __Last Meeting:__ 2014, East Prairie won 34-32 __Last Week:__ East Prairie defeated Chaffee 36-22; Portageville defeated Scott City 38-30 __Outlook:__ East Prairie snapped their two-game losing streak last week holding off a scrappy Chaffee squad. The Eagles were playing without starting quarterback Brett Ellis and lineman Jacob Holt as both are out with injuries. Freshman Derez Tipler stepped in for Ellis and gained 223 yards on just 13 carries, including an 86-yard run to seal last week's win. He also completed 6 of 7 passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. Junior Deverence Jones added 54 yards on 10 carries and had a couple long touchdown runs called back because of penalties. The Eagles defense struggled to stop the Chaffee running attack, giving up nearly 300 yards on the ground. Portageville found their running attack last week, as running back Daniel McCray gained 244 yards on 32 carries and one touchdown. For the season, McCray has 606 yards. With the running game rediscovered, the Bulldogs have become very balanced as quarterback Jon Garrett Kellams has completed 79 of 147 passes for 1,061 yards and 16 touchdowns with just four interceptions. Last week Kellams threw three touchdowns, connecting with five different receivers. Sophomore Ian Torrey is Kellams' favorite target, catching 24 passes for 385 yards and eight touchdowns as the Bulldogs average 33.3 points per game. Defensively the Bulldogs allow opponents 28.5 points per game.
