Records are made to be broken and is has taken 62 years for Don Hawkins high school passing record to be broke. Portageville senior Jon Garrett Kellams busted Hawkins' record this season with 2,095 yards. His total statistics are 149 of 258 for 57.7 percent, 2,095 yards, 31 touchdowns and seven interceptions...

Records are made to be broken and is has taken 62 years for Don Hawkins high school passing record to be broke. Portageville senior Jon Garrett Kellams busted Hawkins' record this season with 2,095 yards. His total statistics are 149 of 258 for 57.7 percent, 2,095 yards, 31 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

When school officials told Kellams of his feat, "I was really excited, it is just an awesome deal."

Don Hawkins said, "This is what I have been waiting for, for a long time. It has been since 1954, really 53 football season. That's how long it has been."
