Portageville man killed in weekend crash

PORTAGEVILLE -- A Portageville man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday in New Madrid County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 12:25 p.m. on Missouri Highway 162, two miles east of Portageville, as northbound motorist Mary L. Taylor, 49, of Lilbourn failed to yield to the eastbound vehicle driven by Darla K. Britt, 53, of Portageville. Taylor's vehicle struck the passenger side door of Britt's vehicle.

Britt's passenger, David H. Britt, 59, of Portageville was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:45 p.m. by coroner George DeLisle and taken to DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville.

Britt received serious injuries and was flown to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Taylor sustained moderate injuries and was also flown to Saint Francis Medical Center.
