MINER -- Miner firefighters, police and other city employees will already have a gym membership in place for a New Year's fitness resolution.

The Miner Board of Aldermen accepted during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday an offer from CB Fitness for a year membership for city workers at a total cost of $1,000 for a year.

After discussing the additional risk involved in requiring employees to work out at the gym, the Board agreed to just offer access to the gym as a benefit the employees can take advantage of if they choose to on their own time.

Police Chief Chris Griggs said his officers indicated they would use the membership if it was available.
