CARBONDALE -- A double-double by New Madrid County Central's Chris Farr helped the Eagles to a first round win over Madison, Ill., during the Southern Illinois Healthcare/Carbondale Holiday Tournament Tuesday morning in Carbondale, Ill.
Farr led NMCC (4-4) with 19 points and 13 rebounds. He scored eight of his game-high in the fourth quarter where NMCC overcame a once five-point deficit.
Palmer Campbell scored 16 points behind three 3-pointers while Javarcus Word added 13 points and six rebounds.
NMCC out-rebounded Madison 41-31.
The Eagles trailed 43-38 entering the final frame but outscored Madison 24-10 to escape with a win. NMCC led 27-24 at the half.
The Eagles will play either Murphysboro, Ill., or Carlisle County, Ken., on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at SIU Arena.
