STEELE, Mo. -- Bradley Wallace went 2 for 3 at the plate and drove in one run but it was not enough as the fourth-seeded Portageville Bulldogs were unable to fend off the upset-determined seventh-seeded host South Pemiscot Bulldogs 5-3 in the championship game of the Bootheel Conference Tournament.

Bailey Cook went the distance on the mound to take the loss for Portageville (15-10). He allowed four earned runs, struck out three and had no walks.

Riley Cain was the winning pitcher for South Pemiscot (11-9). He threw a complete game and gave up two earned runs. He had four strikeoutst and walked four batters.

It was the third consecutive upset in the tournament for the Bulldogs, who opened the tournament on Monday with a 6-5 upset of second-seeded Senath-Hornersville and then proceeded to take out sixth-seeded Campbell 4-0 in Tuesday's semifinals.

__Chaffee 9, Crystal City 0__

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Kade Sullivan reached base two of his three times at the plate and batted in four runs as the Red Devils blanked the visiting Hornets.

Freshman pitcher Breven Yarbro had a one-hitter in going the distance for Chaffee (16-5). He struck out two and walked six batters.

Alec Bogenpohl added a double and touched base all of his three times at bat for the Red Devils.

Drake Childers suffered the pitching loss. He threw two innings and allowed four runs (two earned) on two hits. He had one strikeout and walked three.

Kyle French produced the lone hit for Crystal City (6-7).

__District 1__

COOTER, Mo. -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles defeated Caruthersville 8-3 to win its second district championship in a row.

The Eagles (14-10) will take on Kennett, the state's two-time defending state champion and 11-0 winners over Southland in their district final, on Monday in the sectional round.

__District 3__

BERNIE, Mo -- Malden took out Bernie 9-0 Thursday to win its third-straight district championship.

The Green Wave (17-5) will play Scott City (20-2) on Monday in the sectional round. Scott City defeated Oran 7-6 in the District 4 final.

__TRACK__

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Malden swept the SEMO South Conference track meet Monday at East Prairie High School.

The boys won with a blistering 171.5 points in front of East Prairie (107) and Hayti (105).

On the girls side, Malden scored 171. Chaffee came in second with 142.
