Local church planning events for Law Enforcement Appreciation Week

SIKESTON - In an effort to foster positive relations between the public and law enforcement, the Shady Acres Church of Christ is planning three days of events during Law Enforcement Appreciation Week.

"My heroes are those serving others," Shady Acres Church of Christ Minister Johnny Hester said.

Hester and other church members will honor and feed those in law enforcement as well as emergency personnel. The three-day event starts with a complimentary breakfast. The breakfast, scheduled from 6-9 a.m. May 14, is open to personnel from Scott, Mississippi and New Madrid counties, as well as any other personnel from the surrounding communities.

A special service starts at 10 a.m. May 15 for law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, their families, followed by a meal. Both are open to the public, as the church wants to include the community.
