The trio, along with three alternates, were selected Saturday during the district meeting held at the Tinnin Center on the Three Rivers College campus.

The delegates will be former State Sen. Jason Crowell, Cape Girardeau, David Courtway, Festus, and Jeremy Wiggins, Ellington. The alternates are Rep. Shelley Taylor, Marble Hill, Rep. Tila Hubrecht, Dexter, and Doreen Grogan, Willow Springs.

Trump won over a Sen. Ted Cruz slate that included Jeff Shawan of Poplar Bluff.

Scott R. Clark of Cape Girardeau was chosen to represent the district as a member of the Electoral College.

The convention was attended by 236 delegates from 29 counties in the 8th District.

Poplar Bluffian Eddy Justice presided over the meeting after being elected chairman of the 8th District Convention. Christy Roberts of Ellington was chosen as convention secretary and Mark Richardson as parliamentarian.

The Rev. Steve Patterson of Temple Baptist Church offered the opening prayer and Navy veteran Valerie Guffey of Poplar Bluff led the Pledge of Allegiance. Speaker of the Missouri House Todd Richardson gave the welcoming remarks.
