"Wake Up America" - Americans to Unite and Pray

Thursday, May 5, 2016

I highly urge you to participate in this year's National Day of Prayer. Needless to say our country is at a critical juncture, and our elected leaders seem to be dumb-founded as to which direction to take.

There are a few that do see the light and want to turn things around. However, there light has become slightly cloudy. Their vision has been has been blinded. Simply, they have hit a brick wall of a road block.

From what I have noticed through the years, is there are good people that have entered into politics with the hopes of changing the system, only to allow the system change them. Instead, they let the simple road to success take them for a ride. A ride that will eventually end up in a wreck costing you and I more of our tax dollars, and our respect to the elected leaders.

Our country needs leaders that will fight for line item votes. Instead they cave in. They will vote for a much larger bill as long as they specific bill in mixed in the larger bill. In reality, the much larger bill has way too much pork, too much cost for you and I. We need to bring back line item votes and stand firm in the faith.

This is an election year. Now more than ever, the faith based groups and citizens need to send a lot of knee-mails to the only one that can fix the problems, the Good Lord Himself.

In it reported that on an average day, a spirit-filled Christian spends at least 20 minutes a day in prayer. If we only spent 20 minutes a day talking with our loved ones, co-workers, friends, where would you be right now?

For too long, we have kept quite not saying a thing. This is our country, our hard-earned tax dollars being spent on your behalf by elected people that know nothing about you. Just as long as they get your vote of confidence, that is all they need.

I challenge you to come to the National Day of Prayer program in Portageville. It is set for Thursday, May 5, at 12 Noon. The event will be held at the McCrate Family Park, across from the First State Bank & Trust Company, Inc. Area lay leaders and pastors will be speaking different topics involving the need for prayer. Please come and bring you Bible and lawn chair.

The 65th annual National Day of Prayer, May 5, 2016, will have profound significance for our country. It is an unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord's healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on citizens to humbly come before His throne.

The theme for 2016 is Wake Up America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of our Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. To further highlight our theme, we've chosen Isaiah 58:1a as our Scripture for this year: "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet."
