Scott County Central FBLA members attend state leadership conference
SIKESTON -- Eight members of the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda Chapter from Scott County Central High School recently traveled to Springfield for the Missouri FBLA-PBL State Leadership Conference.
The three-day conference, beginning April 24, featured workshops, keynotes and networking opportunities with Fortune 500 companies for middle school through college students.
Nearly 4,600 students and advisers came together for the event with over 150 business education-related contests running during the event; contest topics range from accounting to web design, marketing to mobile application development.
Colten Winter placed seventh in the state for "Client Service." McKayla Dumey was recognized for completing the Leader Level of the Business Achievement Awards while Allison Wood and Valerie Hubbert participated in the "Buzz Squad," which meant they got to go behind-the-scenes, take pictures and post to FBLA social media throughout the event.
Scott Central senior Arista Johnson also fulfilled her term as state secretary for FBLA at the conference. Scott Central FBLA adviser is Buddy Alberson.
Missouri FBLA-PBL, a chartered member of National FBLA-PBL, is a registered 501(c)3. Their mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
