SIKESTON -- A Sikeston woman will be arraigned today after allegedly hitting her relative in the face.

Manniyah Therese Goodwin, 20, of Sikeston is charged with misdemeanor third degree domestic assault, assault of a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, according to Missouri Case.net. She is scheduled to appear at 10:30 a.m. today before Judge Scott T. Horman.

About 2:15 p.m. Friday, John C. Caudle with Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to a residence in the 100 block of Pin Oak Drive, where he made contact with a 64-year-old female who said her relative -- Goodwin -- had been at her residence five minutes prior to his arrival, according to Caudle's probable cause affidavit. The woman said Goodwin was upset as soon as she arrived and that Goodwin wanted the relative to give her $20. The woman refused to give Goodwin the money, and Goodwin grabbed the woman's purse which was laying on the couch, the probable cause statement said.

The woman said she stopped Goodwin and tried to take back the purse, but Goodwin became irate and started yelling at her, Caudle said in his statement. The woman said she asked Goodwin to leave, and she refused. She said Goodwin then started hitting her in the face with her fists. She said Goodwin struck her in her bottom lip, which was visibly swollen and on the left side of her face was also visibly swollen, Caudle said.
