Four seriously injured in I-55 crash

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. - Four persons were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 55.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that at noon Sunday at the14.2 mile marker a southbound vehicle driven by Joann S. Dixon, 40, of New Orleans, La., stopped in the roadway. Dixon's vehicle was struck in the rear by a southbound truck driven by John Chapman, 57, of Olla, La., causing Dixon's vehicle to then strike three persons on southbound motorcycles -- Joseph L. Odom, 53, of Slidell, La., and Terry L. Earl, 54, and Jerome Young, 64, of New Orleans.

Seriously injured were Dixon, Pardo and Odum, who were taken by air ambulance to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, and Earl, who was taken by ambulance to the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital.

A passenger in Dixon's vehicle, Craig Dixon, 8, of New Orleans had minor injuries and was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. Young, who was moderately injured also was taken by ambulance to the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital.
