SIKESTON -- A man faces felony drug charges following a traffic stop and a report of a disturbance.

Lenard Tyrone Jackson, 30, of Sikeston is charged with two felony counts of distribution/delivery of a controlled substance in New Madrid County, according to online court records. He is also charged with one count of felony second-degree domestic assault in Scott County.

About 5 p.m. Thursday, officers with Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a report of a disturbance from a woman who said a man struck her vehicle and took off in the another vehicle, according to DPS incident reports.

"She informed communications she was following the subject and then she lost sight of him and gave a possible location," said Capt. Bill Mygatt with Sikeston DPS.

At 5:12 p.m. officers observed a man driving the vehicle that matched the woman's description and pulled into a parking lot of a restaurant and hotel on South Main Street. An officer made the vehicle stop and contacted the man who said he was coming from Dexter.

"The officer could apparently smell a fresh marijuana odor coming from the interior of the vehicle as there were several brown cigarillos present," Mygatt said.
