For the last two weeks, the Portageville Lady Bulldogs have been busy with a heavy schedule. "It was good for us to get this win before going into the Labor Day weekend," said Coach Barry Branscum.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Charleston in two sets, 25-8 and 25-15.

"I just want to say that I am very proud of the way that our team is playing right now. We do not have a whole lot of experience varsity, but they work hard and are competitive," Branscum said.

"They are learning how to deal in tough situations and we have had some tough games. For example, when Malden game to play here, there was a huge crowd, and to their credit, they played extremely well, but we played really well too. I was really proud of how some of my younger players stepped up, and how the seniors are trying to lead them into a right direction," he said.

"I also want to say how appreciative I am of the fan support from the student body, and it has been that way at every home game."
