Joseph Vernon “ Joe” Edwards, 89

Joseph Vernon "Joe" Edwards was born September 14, 1927 in Portageville to Landon Edwards and Grace (Jackson) Edwards. He died Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Sherwood, AR at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 7 days.

Joe was married on February 1, 1947 in Piggott, AR to Marcella Hardin. She survives of the home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville and Fellowship Baptist Church in Sherwood. He served in the U.S. Navy. Joe owned and operated a sanitation service, he served 40 years as a Boy Scout Leader and was a member of the Kiwanian’s and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Grace (Jackson) Edwards and Landon Edwards, one sister, Dortha Countz, and three brothers, Conway, Clell and Rondal Edwards.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Marcella Edwards of Sherwood, AR, formerly of Portageville; two sons, Vaughn (Debbie) Edwards of Toledo, IA, and Bobby (Sonya) Edwards of Sherwood, AR; three daughters, Debbie (Don) Franklin, Tina (Rick) Harris, and Leslie (Paul) Gillian, all of Sherwood, AR; one brother, Charles (Jean) Edwards of Crestview, FL; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Services were conducted Saturday, February 25, 2017 at DeLisle Funeral Home with Dr. Buck Morton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Harris, Dustin Harris, Marc Franklin, Ryan Franklin, Mason Edward, Tony DeRose, Adam Glitleian, Jeff Hall, and Chris Edwards.
