Shelley (Keeney) Taylor as Field Representative for Congressman Smith
CAPE GIRARDEAU – U.S. Congressman Jason Smith (MO-08) announced the addition of former Missouri State Representative Shelley (Keeney) Taylor to his in-district team serving the citizens of south central and southeast Missouri. Taylor most recently served Missouri State House District 145/156, which includes Bollinger, Madison, Perry and Wayne Counties.
“I could not be more excited and honored to have Shelley join my congressional staff,” said U.S. Representative Smith. “Her years of experience and depth of knowledge about the issues that matter most to Missourians will be a great asset as I work to further reduce burdensome governmental regulations and enhance the liberties afforded to us in the Constitution. Shelley joins my outstanding staff as a field representative where she will assist individuals with concerns or problems they experience with federal agencies.”
Shelley (Keeney) Taylor is a Missouri native with deep roots in public service and education. Born in Cape Girardeau, Taylor attended Southeast Missouri State University where she majored in Elementary Education with a math emphasis. She then taught in the Leopold School District while pursuing her Master of Arts Degree in Education Administration at William Woods University.
“Education and a desire to serve others have been at the heart of my life’s work,” said Shelley. “From the halls of the Missouri Capitol to the Mississippi Valley row crop fields to the senior centers and classrooms that form the bedrock of our communities, I consider it a privilege to serve others. I am very honored to continue Congressman Smith’s work to strengthen our families, farms and small businesses in southeast and south central Missouri.”
Prior to serving as a Missouri State Representative, Shelley (Keeney) Taylor was the district assistant to several former legislative leaders. During this time period, Taylor immersed herself in learning about Missouri government and the legislative process.
“Shelley was a dedicated representative and well-known throughout the Capitol and her district for her ability to work hard on behalf of those she represented,” said Smith. “I look forward to working with her to continue this level on behalf of the thirty counties I am honored to represent before the United States Congress.”
Shelley (Keeney) Taylor will work out of Congressman Smith’s Cape Girardeau office located at 2502 Tanner Drive, Suite 205. She and her husband, Justin, live in Sikeston with their two daughters. She is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, General Federated Women’s Club (GFWC), Farm Bureau, National Rifle Association, Women in the Outdoors and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
