JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A new initiative, announced last week, will bring broadband internet access to over 100 rural Missouri schools that currently have no access to high speed internet. State Rep. Don Rone met with Governor Eric Greitens in Jefferson City to discuss the impact high quality internet access will have on our local schools.
This year’s state budget includes $6 million to support the effort, which gives Missouri access to $39 million in matching federal E-Rate funds. This covers the entire cost of bringing quality internet via fiber optic connections to every school in Missouri with no cost to the local school district.
“School districts all over Missouri had not been able to afford the infrastructure for quality internet. Now, for the first time in our history, they can. Representative Rone is a strong leader who fights for the people in his district every day. I know that he supports expanding rural internet access. We will continue to work together to get results for you.”
