The Portageville Lady Dawgs participated in the Swing Pink in Dexter Saturday. "The record doesn't show the true results, but they stuck to it. There will always be things to work on," said coach Ashlie Case Patton. The girls lost to Van Buren, 8-3 and to Greenville 10-9 in extra inning. They did win against Southland 10-1. Van Buren was the Fall Season State Champs. "It was a long day, but they held their own," she said.
On Friday, the Lady Dawgs traveled to East Carter in Ellsinore. "From the minute they stepped on the field, they looked like a team. They played as a team. We were behind 2-0, then 2-1 in the fifth. In the seventh, we tied it 2-2," said Patton.
"In the eighth, we scored two. East Carter came back and scored two. In the 10th, we scored six, and won, 10-6."
"I'm telling you the win was great, but the atmosphere was what was even more inspiring. They never gave up. It was a good feeling game!!!
