LILBOURN, Mo - The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Charleston Outreach Center and Lincoln University Cooperative Center joined hands at the elementary school in Lilbourn last Saturday for community outreach. Sgt. Clark Parrott of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said that several members of the patrol there for a slow pitch softball tournament and to reach out to the public. LILBOURN, Mo - The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Charleston Outreach Center and Lincoln University Cooperative Center joined hands at the elementary school in Lilbourn last Saturday for community outreach.

Sgt. Clark Parrott of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said that several members of the patrol there for a slow pitch softball tournament and to reach out to the public. The theme of this inaugural event was "Stepping up to Strike Out Violence."

The Patrol had booths set up for information and to facilitate personal communication with one of the officers. Col. Sandra Karsten, superintendent of the Missouri Highway Patrol, threw out the first pitch and Capt. Jeff Vitale, Troop E commander, was scheduled to appear as well.

Numerous elected officials were also be on hand. Representative Don Rone of Portageville, Mo.; Senator Doug Libla of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Representative Kiki Curls of Kansas City were just some scheduled to appear.

Lincoln University Dean, Albert Essel also attend the event along with Shirley Maxwell of Lincoln University.

Dr. Randall Williams, director of the Department of Health and Senior Services and Joseph Palm, chief of the Office of Minority Health, was also present.

Besides softball, there was a car show, health screenings, face painting, water balloon toss, camel rides as well as other programs and games.
