ESSEX, Mo. -- Melody Hampton Eaton passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, peacefully in her home in Essex.
Melody was born June 20, 1955, in Sikeston, to Emma Sue Graham Hampton and the late Robert Gene Hampton. She graduated from Richland High School and married the love of her life, Raymond Gale Eaton in 1973.
Melody was a very efficient and hard worker. She began her career shortly after marriage, working in production at the old Hat Factory in Dexter, where she worked until the birth of her son, Ben. She later joined her husband, Gale, at Media Press in Sikeston, where she worked in the office. In 1986, they started their own printing company, Forms Tech Inc., presently known as FTI Printing. Not only was she the owner, but stayed very involved in the everyday production, with a positive attitude and always ready to help where needed.
Melody was a faithful member of Christ Gospel Churches and currently attended the Christ Gospel Church of Millersville. She loved to read and study God's Word and worship The Lord.
Melody gave birth to her son, Benjamin Eaton, in September 1978. Over the past 44 years she has lived in the Essex/Sikeston area.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Chelsie Eaton of Essex; two grandchildren, Alesia Eaton and Carter Eaton; her mother, Emma Sue Hampton of Essex; one sister, Rhonda Rice of Dexter; and one brother, Gary Hampton of Sikeston.
Melody was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hampton; and her husband, Raymond Gale Eaton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where the funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Gleason will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
