SIKESTON - Noel R. Cantrell, 84, died Sept. 16, 2016, at his home in Sikeston.
Born Feb. 21, 1932, in Blodgett to the late William and Audrey Lawson Cantrell, he was employed with Homestead and later with Raben Tire. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War, and of the Church of Christ belief.
On June 28, 1969, he married Mary Sloan, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons and two daughters-in-law, Blaine Cantrell of Jefferson City, Danny Cantrell of St. Louis, Herschell and Beverly Kennedy of Wappapello and Noel "Pete" and Sue Cantrell of Sikeston; five daughters and one son-in-law, Julia Hanak of St. Louis and Billie Heaton, Michelle and David Kirkman, Audrey Ward and Tresea Cantrell all of Sikeston; two sisters, Mary Ward of Grand Rapids Mich., and Norma Taylor of Sikeston; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Cantrell, Don Cantrell and Eugene Cantrell; and two grandchildren, Dustan Heaton and Courtney Kennedy.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with his nephew, the Rev. Glen Cantrell, pastor of Sikeston Community Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery at Bloomfield with full military honors.
