CHARLESTON, Mo. - Royce R. Mix, 84, died Monday, April 10, 2017, at the New Madrid Living Center at New Madrid. Born March 24, 1933, at Charleston, to the late Bernie Lee and Odie Bunch Mix, he had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was employed as a carpenter and truck driver. CHARLESTON, Mo. - Royce R. Mix, 84, died Monday, April 10, 2017, at the New Madrid Living Center at New Madrid.

Born March 24, 1933, at Charleston, to the late Bernie Lee and Odie Bunch Mix, he had lived in Charleston most of his life where he was employed as a carpenter and truck driver. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 3174 at Sikeston. He later moved to New Madrid where he had lived the past few years.

On Feb. 5, 1955, he married Rachel Ann Smith, who preceded him in death April 13, 2009.

Surviving are: two sons, Ron (Cindy) Mix of Lathrop, Calif., and Mike (Stephanie) Mix of Westmoreland, Tenn.; three daughters, Debbie (Jim) Russell of New Madrid, Paula Summers of Mayfield, Ky., and Teresa (Tom) Showmaker of Charleston; one sister, Lona Rapien of Doniphan, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, Paul Summers, Matthew (Ivy) Summers, Morgan (Jessie) Sebrowski, Ashleigh (Joshua) Fox, James (Halley) Russell, Leslie (Daniel) Sutton, Nicki Jones, Vicki (Taylor) Sheridan, Steven (Alexandria) Mix, Thomas Mix, Heather Mix, Michael Mix, Jr., Hannah (Trey) Wilson and Jason Showmaker; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Odie Woods; sister, Susie Mix; and two brothers, Hurbert Lee Mix and W.T. Bunch.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Jeff Polk, pastor of the New Madrid Baptist Church of New Madrid, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery with full military rites provided by the United States Army and the Missouri Military Honors Program.

Pallbearers will be: James Russell, Paul Summers, Matthew Summers, Steven Mix, Jason Showmaker, Thomas Mix and Michael Mix Jr.
