ORAN, Mo. - Donald Eugene Wilgus Sr., 87, died April 12, 2017, at his home in Oran.
Born March 16, 1930, in Huntington, W.V., the son of the late Fred Wilgus and Elsie Rucker Wilgus, he served in the Army in 1951 as a platoon guide. Following his military service, he began a custom- home construction business. In 1961, he graduated from Ohio State University, where he majored in industrial technology and began a teaching career spanning over 40 years in Scottsdale, Ariz. He taught carpentry, plumbing, electrical, brick laying, wood working and working with metals and later in his career, he taught architectural and engineering drafting as well as computer-aided drafting.
On July 9, 1988, in Oran, he married Pamela June Todt, who survives.
Other survivors include: his son, Donald Eugene Wilgus Jr. of Shelbyville, Tenn.; one brother, Jim Wilgus of Crown City, Ohio; and one sister, Patricia Neithhammer of Dover, Del.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rudella Scarberry.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Elijah Allen will officiate.
Burial will be at Friends Cemetery in Oran.
