NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Eugene E. Benthal, 83, died Jan. 21, 2018, at the Portageville Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 18, 1934, in New Madrid, son of the late Violet Morgan Benthal and Jack Benthal, he was retired from Noranda Aluminum Co. and a member of the River Bend Pentecostal Church of New Madrid.
His first wife, Imogene Benthal, preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1997. On Jan. 1, 1999, in New Madrid, he married Ruth Davis, and she survives of the home in New Madrid.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Donney and Sharon Benthal and James and Cheryl Benthal of Portageville; two brothers, W.J. Benthal of Bourbon and Wayne Benthal of St. Louis; one sister, Carolyn Bolds of Eureka; and nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Benthal, in 2000; one daughter, Deborah Jean Danels, in 2017; and one brother, Charlie Benthal.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday Riverbend Pentecostal Church at New Madrid, where services will be at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. G.L. Keene officiating.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
