PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Herman Paul Brands, 91, died March 1, 2017, at Gideon Care Center in Gideon.
Born Jan. 1, 1926, in Portageville, son of the late Rosina Elfrink Brands and Theodore Brands, he was a member of the Catholic church. A lifetime member of the VFW, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
On Sept. 26, 1950, in Leopold, he married Catherine Ann Beussink, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Frank and Henry Brands; and four sisters, Nora, Jane, Florence Elizabeth, and Florence.
Survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Stuart Jantz of Cape Girardeau, Rose Mary and George Winters of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Joyce Brands and Dan Huckstep of Wappapello; and one sister, Lucy Savat of Poplar Bluff; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Daniel Robles officiating.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
