CHARLESTON, Mo. - Oddie Alexander Long Sr., 98, died June 1, 2017, at his home.

Born April 23, 1919, in Wolf Island, to the late Artie and Ollie Cassell Long, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he was the secretary for many years.

For almost 50 years he was married to Maggie Conners Long, who preceded him in death in 1989.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Faye Dorothy Davis.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, William (June) Long of Flint, Mich., and Oddie (Linda Faye) Long Jr. of Charleston; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Arnell) Borum of Munford, Tenn.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Friday at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston with the Rev. Sylvester Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors under the direction of the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston.
