PUXICO, Mo. -- Vadola Martin, 95, died Sept. 15, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 30, 1922, in McGee, daughter of the late Richard Overton and Lula Jackson Overton Hodge, she had lived in the Puxico area all of her life. She was a member of the Life Chapel Assembly of God Church in Puxico. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

On Jan. 20, 1942, in Bollinger County, she married Elmer Martin in Bollinger County, who preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1984.

She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Washington Hodge; one daughter, Barbara White; her brothers, Benton, Basil, Bazzlel, Buford, Richard; three sisters, Vernola Overton, Velvadean Hendrix and Ruth George; a stepsister, Lula Potter; and two grandsons and one great-grandson.

Survivors include: seven sons and wives, Ron and Elvena Martin of Dexter, Duane Martin of St. Roberts, Gary and Lois Martin of Millersvile, Tony and Leslie Martin of Cape Girardeau, Roger and Robin Martin, Randy and Cindy Martin of Puxico, Gordon and Carolyn Martin of Wentzville; three daughters and husbands, Gloria and Lonnie Massey of Sedgewickville, Priscilla and Larry Hull of Old Appleton and Lynetta and Mike Baldwin of St Peters; 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Life Chapel Assembly of God Church in Puxico with the Rev.Glenn Epps of Puxico officiating.

Burial will be in the Rock Point Cemetery near Swinton.
