CANALOU, Mo.  Harvey Steven Spencer Jr., 75, passed away on Feb. 25, 2018, at his home in Canalou.

CANALOU, Mo. -- Harvey Steven Spencer Jr., 75, passed away on Feb. 25, 2018, at his home in Canalou.

Born Nov. 19, 1942, in LaForge, he was the son of Ruby Helms Spencer of Matthews and the late Harvey Steven Spencer Sr.

On Aug. 14, 1986, in Matthews, he married Faye Tharp who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Cheri Hillis of Sikeston; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cyretha Hillis of Blodgett and Jennita and Howard Williams of East Prairie; one brother, Curtis Spencer of Sikeston; two sisters, Linda Roberts of Jackson, and Marlene Davidson of Matthews; five grandchildren, Kayleen Newell of Dexter, Kaeley Hillis of Sikeston, Alyssa Hillis of Sikeston, Matthew Newell of Dexter and Preston Simms of East Prairie; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Hillis of Sikeston, Mattilynn Newell of Wappapello and Nora Evans of Sikeston.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vicki Vandiver ; two daughters, Peggy and Melissa Spencer; and one brother, John Spencer.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, with Mike Cartwright officiating.

Burial will follow at Matthews City Cemetery in Matthews.
