DPS reports 911 service restored

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Department of Public Safety announced early today that 911 services should now be operating normally.

According to Capt. James McMillen, public information officer, Verizon has reported the system is restored.

On Monday, the Sikeston DPS was informed the St. Louis, market area was experiencing call failures due to damage to a fiber optic line in the region. The damage interrupted phone services and some 911 services in Scott, Butler, Dunklin and Stoddard counties.
