HOLLAND, Mo. - One person is seriously injured after being shot in the head in what is currently being described as a "self-defense incident."
According to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, the shooting happened at around 10:20 a.m. Monday at Henley's Auto Sales on U.S. Highway 61 south of Holland. Greenwell says deputies were called to the scene in reference to a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was flown to the MED in Memphis for treatment.
Greenwell said the victim was shot by his cousin, and though the investigation is still under way, it is currently being called a "self-defense incident."
No names were released by the sheriff, as the investigation is still underway. When completed, Greenwell said a report will be sent to the Pemiscot County Prosecutor's Office, who will determine whether or not to file charges.
The Pemsicot County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control.
