BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- The case of Robert Phillips, charged in May 2017 with two counts of felony first degree statutory sodomy, has been continued until mid-August.

The case involving Phillips, who posted a $25,000 cash bond upon being arrested May 12, was slated for a 491 hearing on Thursday, July 13, in the courtroom of Judge Joe Z. Satterfield. The purpose of a 491 hearing is to determine whether witness testimony may be used in a court of law. In this case, the evidence statements come from a minor child.

The first 491 hearing was slated for June 22 and was continued until July 13.

The hearing is now scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 17 in Satterfield's court. Phillips is represented by Poplar Bluff attorney, Jasper N. Edmundson.

Conviction of felony statutory sodomy in the first degree involving a child under the age of 12 is punishable by life imprisonment or a term of not less than 10 years in prison.
