MINER, Mo. - A woman on probation now faces additional charges after she was caught shoplifting.

Kimberly Kay Mathis, 55, of New Madrid is charged with felony stealing.

According to Miner Police Chief Chris Griggs, his department received a call Thursday about a woman, later identified as Mathis, going in and out of stores at the Sikeston Outlet Mall and possibly shoplifting.

"We arrived and located Ms. Mathis in the parking lot," Griggs said in a news release. "Ms. Mathis was wearing an ankle bracelet (from being on probation) and after further investigation stolen clothing and other items were located in her purse."

Reportedly Mathis had told her probation officer she was going to the Social Security Office, however she did not make him aware that she was going also to the outlet mall.

Officers recovered and returned the stolen merchandise to the stores.

Bond for Mathis is set at $1,000. As of Friday afternoon, she was being held at the Miner Police Department.
