BENTON, Mo. -- One man is dead and another faces murder charges after an altercation Thursday night in Scott County.
Gary Lee Venable, 33, of Benton is charged with felony second-degree murder, felony armed criminal action and felony unlawful use of a weapon, according to online court records.
According to Scott County Sheriff Wes Drury, at 6:22 p.m., deputies responded to an address outside of Benton in reference to an assault. When deputies arrived on the scene, they located one male who had died from an apparent stab wound. The suspect, who was later identified as Venable, was located at the scene and taken into custody without incident.
An autopsy was been scheduled for Friday morning.
Bond was set at $200,0000 cash or surety and he's also ordered to have no possession of weapons.
