Cummins diesel technicians do well in skills competition
SIKESTON -- Cummins recently held a skills competition for their diesel technicians and two local diesel engine technicians, Jimmy Aubrey and Jeff Tinnin, both from the Sikeston Cummins branch, qualified for round two of the competition which was held in Kansas City, Mo.
Aubrey was one of the two technicians selected from that competition to move on to the national competition to be held in Columbus, Ind., in April at Cummins Headquarters. Aubrey has been at Cummins for 10 years and is a 2006 graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College (NADC) in Nashville, Tenn. In 2007 he completed a three month Cummins training in Avondale, Ariz., at UTI.
Tinnin did not have formal training at a diesel college but has attended numerous trainings through Freightliner and Cummins. He has been a mechanic for 14 years, nine of those years at Cummins. Tinnin also serves as an in-shop power gen technician.
Shoun retires from Missouri State Highway Patrol
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Major Kemp A. Shoun, of the Executive Services Bureau, will retire effective May 1 as a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol after over 31 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Missouri.
Shoun was appointed to the Patrol as a member of the 57th Recruit Class in September 1985. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Troop E, Pemiscot/New Madrid counties. He was assigned to Troop D, Jasper County, in 1990. While at Troop D, Shoun was promoted to corporal.
In 1995, he was promoted to sergeant and assigned to Barry County. In May 1998, Shoun transferred to the Human Resources Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, as the assistant division director. He was promoted to lieutenant in August 1998.
On Feb. 1, 2004, Shoun was promoted to captain and designated director of the Budget & Procurement Division. On Sept. 1, 2012, Shoun was promoted to the rank of major and designated commander of the Administrative Services Bureau.
On Dec. 1, 2014, Shoun transferred to the position of chief of staff and remained a member of the Patrol's command staff while serving as the Patrol's legislative liaison and then Jan. 1, 2015, Shoun was named commander of the newly created Executive Services Bureau and began overseeing the Governor's Security and Budget and Procurement divisions, and continued serving as the Patrol's legislative liaison. It is from this position that Major Shoun retires.
Shoun graduated from Miller High School in Miller, Mo. He earned an undergraduate degree from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin and a graduate degree from Lincoln University in Jefferson City. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, the Missouri Police Chiefs Command College, and Leadership Missouri. He and his wife Tessy (McMullen) have one daughter, Hillary.
GlennView to host True Colors Workshop in May
JACKSON, Mo. -- Tracey Glenn, president of GlennView, and certified True Colors trainer, will conduct an interactive True Colors workshop for to anyone interested in discovering more about their own personality type and the types of others.
The True Colors Keys to Personal Success program is a model for understanding yourself and others based on your personality temperament. Identifying your personality and the personalities of others using True Colors provides you with insights into different motivations, actions and communication approaches. True Colors works because it is based on true principles and is easy to remember and use -- in all kinds of circumstances -- from personal relationships to professional success. This workshop is scheduled from 1-4:30 p.m. on May 17, 2017, at the Jackson Civic Center, 381 Deerwood Drive, Jackson, Mo.
As a certified True Colors trainer, Glenn will lead the workshop participants through various activities to determine their own specific personality. Participants will be introduced to ways to succeed within their own organization and beyond using this personality assessment program. Each participant will receive a 25-page booklet to keep for future reference.
