Word had been received last week from Senator Roy Blunt's office that he would be at the Lilbourn City Hall for a meeting with city leaders and business owners last Thursday afternoon, April 5. Instead, Blunt's Community Liaison Ailey Pope came. Blunt was stuck in Washington working and passing bills. Pope's was to listen to the community leaders on the many issues that affect small town living like Lilbourn, and to take these concerns back to Blunt's office.

Some of the top concerns expressed were lack of economic development and sales taxes. Also on hand at the meeting was New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens. He expressed there are many towns like Lilbourn that do not have qualified people that can fulfill the duties of the town's police force. He offered his services as Sheriff to help and prevue any applicants the city receives to fill their Chief of Police position. Plus, for now if any one needs the police, they need to call 911 and request a deputy to come over.
