SIKESTON — Charles Andrew Croom, age 88, passed away at Missouri Delta Medical Center on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
He was born June 5, 1929, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Charles Wilson and Thelma Katherine (Linderman) Croom.
Charles was of the Baptist faith; he served as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II, retired from Memphis Light-Gas and Water; he also was a retired foreman at Noranda Aluminum, a private pilot, a member of the SEMO RC Flyers and an amateur radio operator
On Sept. 21, 1993, in Charleston, he married Iva Mae Campbell who survives of the home.
He is survived by two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Thomas Wilson of Sikeston, Jennifer and Alex Allen of Perryville; three grandchildren, Jessica Brewer, Lindsay Ward and Roger Ward III; and five great-grandchildren, Emma Brewer, Mia Brewer, Aden Brewer, William Henderson and Peyton Henderson.
Visitation was scheduled Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home where services were held Friday, April 20, 2018, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Tarter, pastor of Mount Calvary Missionary Church, officiating.
Interment with full military honors followed in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
