SIKESTON — Bobby Patterson, age 83, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 2, 1935, in Essex, son of the late Floyd and Cassie Hodges Patterson, Bobby was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed by International Shoe, Wohl Shoe and retired from Brown Shoe. His love was raising cattle; he had a name for every one of them and a strict rule that nobody ever struck one of them. He also drove a fuel truck for Reggie Stotts.

On Sept. 11, 1987, at Dexter, he married Emma Kelley Vanover who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife include: one daughter and son-in-law, Teri (Denis) Rapert of Charleston, two stepdaughters and one stepson-in-law, Jamie (Bruce) Harford of Cordova Tenn., Danie Vanover of Dexter; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Todd (Stacy) Vanover of Valdosta, Ga.; two brothers, Jerry Patterson of Sikeston, Jimmy Patterson of Fort Smith, Ark.; and eight grandchildren including Kassidy Lee who they raised; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Sonny Patterson; and one sister, Mary Lynn Patterson.

Visitation will be Monday, June 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 5 at 11 a.m. with Johnny McMillen, Pete Nuthak and his stepson, Todd Vanover, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Active pallbearers will be: Matthew Harford, Casey Harford, Matthew Patterson, Denis Rapert, Todd Vanover and Jerry Patterson.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles Butry, Reggie Stotts, Jerry Patterson, Bruce Harford, Donnie Ward, Bob Barnes and Tommy Patterson.
