New Head Start opens

The new Head Start classrooms at New Madrid welcomed students Monday with the start of school. Construction was completed earlier this year on three classrooms, which provide pre-school education services for 51 children. The large classrooms are divided into learning areas. Ka''Maria Ray, a future physician, uses a stethoscope to listen to her teacher, Tonya Moorefield's heart. The Head Start classrooms complete the facility on Main Street in New Madrid that also houses the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation's Early Head Start program.
