JACKSON, Mo. — Christina Mae Counts Golightly Cogdill, 89, formerly of Charleston, died Sept. 29, 2018, at the Jackson Manor.
Born June 12, 1929, at Freemont, daughter of the late Henry Clifford and Alta Lamborne Counts, she had lived in Mississippi County until 2012 when she moved to Jackson. She was a homemaker as well as a babysitter for children through the years and a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church.
On Aug. 5, 1947, she married Edward A. “Pete” Golightly, who preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1983. On June 30, 1988, she married George V. Cogdill, who preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2011.
Survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cathy and Charles Martin of Paducah, Ky., Jeannie and Jeff Anderson of Jackson and Brenda Reed of Trenton, Tenn.; three brothers, Henry Counts and Kenny Counts of East Prairie and Cletus Counts of Sikeston; one sister, Marie Kohne of Charleston; and five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Edward L. Golightly and David A. Golightly; two brothers, William “Bill” Counts and Carl Edward Counts; and one sister, Trudy High.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Monday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Jon Archie, pastor of the Elm Street Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
