BENTON, Mo. — Scott County will have new officials as none of the incumbents were re-elected during Tuesday’s election.
Scott County voting trends mirrored the statewide trend with the majority of voters opting for the Republican candidates.
Republican Jim Glueck defeated Democrat incumbent Jamie Burger, who has served as the presiding commissioner since 2008. Glueck received 7,269 votes, and Burger had 6,907 votes.
In a race separated by only 98 votes, Zac Horack, a Republican, defeated incumbent Scott T. Horman, a Democrat, as the associate circuit judge for Division 5 with a vote of 7,148 to 7,050.
Republican Amanda Oesch ousted Democrat incumbent Paul R. Boyd, who has served as the prosecuting attorney since 1996, in a vote of 8,474 to 5,701.
In the final contested county race, Joe Bill Davis, a Republican, defeated Glenda Enderle, a Democrat, who has served as the treasurer for 28 years, in a vote of 8,697 to 5,411.
Running unopposed were incumbents: Blake Pearson, associate circuit judge for Division 4, who had 11,963 votes; Rita Milam, county clerk, 11,454 votes; Christy M. Hency, circuit court clerk, 11,263 votes; Tara L. Mason, recorder of deeds, 11,040 votes; and Mark Hensley, collector of revenue, 11,596 votes.
Also running unopposed was David A. Dolan, a Democrat, Circuit 33 circuit judge, 11,347 votes.
In a vote of 167 “no” votes to 151 “yes” votes, those in the city of Miner decided not to impose a city general revenue sales tax of one-half percent.
Running unopposed in the race for the 148th District State Representative, Republican incumbent Holly Rehder received 8,947 votes in Scott County.
Republican incumbent 149th District State Rep. Don Rone received 692 Scott County votes while Democrat Bill Burlison garnered 739 votes and Independent candidate Jackie Townes McGee had 129 votes.
In the race for the 151st District state representative, Republican Herman Morse received 1,670 votes while Democrat J.T. (Jerry) Howard had 454 votes and Libertarian Rick Vandeven had 183 votes.
Eighth District Rep. Jason Smith, a Republican, received 10,896 votes over Democrat Kathy Ellis, 3,199 votes, and Libertarian Jonathan L. Shell, 164 votes.
In the statewide race for U.S. Senator, Republican Josh Hawley received 10,594 Scott County votes over incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill, 3,568 votes; Japheth Campbell, Libertarian candidate, 107 votes; Jo Crain, Green Party candidate, 42 votes; and Craig O’Dear, Independent candidate, 101 votes.
Current State Auditor Nicole Galloway, a Democrat, 3,955 votes, was opposed by Republican candidate Saundra McDowell, 9,843 votes; Libertarian candidate, Sean O’Toole, 162 votes; Green Party candidate Don Fitz, 55 votes; and Constitutional Party candidate Jacob Luetkemeyer, 62 votes.
Judges W. Brent Powell received 10,020 “yes” votes and 2,603 “no” votes, and Mary Rhodes Russell received 9,626 “yes” votes and 2,862 “no” votes on whether they should stay on the Missouri Supreme Court. Judge Jeffrey Bates received 9,623 “yes” votes and 2,844 “no” votes to serve on the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Southern District.
AMENDMENTS/
PROPOSITIONS
In Scott County, voters were against Amendment 1 in a vote of 7,460 “no” to 6,493 “yes” and Amendment 3 in a vote of 9,177 “no” votes to 4,830 “yes” votes.
For Amendment 2, there were 8,247 “yes” votes and 5,903 “no” votes. Scott County voters also favored Amendment 4 with 6,925 “yes” votes and 6,715 “no” votes and Proposition B with a vote of 7,189 “yes” votes to 6,940 “no” votes.
Scott County voters were against Proposition C with 8,223 “no” votes and 5,747 “yes” votes and Proposition D with 8,860 “no” votes and 5,260 “yes votes.
Nearly 57 percent, or 14,499 voters cast ballots in Scott County on Tuesday, according to County Clerk Rita Milam. While the turnout was high, it was higher during the 2016 Presidential Election when nearly 65 percent of voters turned out to the polls, Milam said.
