WATERLOO, Ill. — Jean Belt, 91, died Nov. 9, 2018, at her home.
Born Feb. 13, 1927, in Buchanan, Mo., daughter of the late Raleigh Rey and Clara Arnelia Stilts Sitzes, she was the former owner of Jean's Beauty Shop in Cahokia for 20 years. She had been a member of Columbia Senior Citizens and Prairie du Rocher Baptist Church, where she previously taught Sunday school.
On Jan. 18, 1946, in Charleston, Mo., she married Roy E. Belt, who preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2001.
Survivors include: two sons, Ron Belt of Granite City, and Tommy (Jeannine) Belt of Columbia; one daughter, Nancy Boren of Waterloo; one sister, Lilly Faye Griffin of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, David Sitzes of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Charlie Sitzes of Bloomington, Ind.; and 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Sitzes and Fred Sitzes; one sister, Joyce Kernell; and a great-grandson.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, Ill., where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will follow in the Red Bud City Cemetery at Red Bud.
