CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Snowdie Howard Farrar, 78, formerly of Charleston, died Dec. 9, 2018, at her home. CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Snowdie Howard Farrar, 78, formerly of Charleston, died Dec. 9, 2018, at her home.

Born Feb. 29, 1940, in Charleston, daughter of the late Bob Howard and Ardessie Kirkwood Howard, she was a Christian and member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in rural Charleston where she sang in the choir until she relocated to Cape Girardeau. She then joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and served on the kitchen ministry, women mission ministry and on the Mother’s Board. She was employed as a certified nurse assistant, medical technician and physical therapist throughout her life. She started at Beverly Nursing Home and later moved to Heartland Nursing Center where she worked for over 20 years. She then worked at Chateau Girardeau for eight years before retiring.

On June 25, 1977, in Charleston, she married Alfred Farrar, who survives of the home in Cape Girardeau.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Demetria "Faye" and Kerwin Henderson and Lisa Howard Jenkins of Bloomington, Ill.; one brother, Bobby Howard of Normal, Ill.; five sisters, Lendia Smith of Charleston, Glenda Choclet of Cape Girardeau, Rosetta Newbill and Cinderretha Howard Jackson of Bloomington and Bobbie James of Little Rock, Ark.; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Vastie Nesby Smith and Alfreda Howard.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time at noon Saturday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau with Joseph G. Cotton Jr., pastor, officiating.

Burial will be Monday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
