MALDEN, Mo. — Human remains found two weeks ago near Malden have been identified as those of a man missing since July.

On Jan. 16, the Dunklin County Sheriffs’ Office received a phone call that an individual had found what was believed to be human remains. The remains were located near Highway A B outside of Malden.

Law Enforcement officers from the Dunklin County Sheriffs’ Office, Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, Malden Police Department and the Dunklin County Coroner went to the area provided by the caller and secured skeletal remains found in the area.

The skeletal remains were turned over to the Dunklin County Coroner who took the remains to the Parkland South Medical Facility in Farmington, Mo., for examination and identification.

Through dental records, the remains were identified as being that of Steven Wayne Ketchum who had been reported missing by the Malden Police Department on July 15, 2018.
