SIKESTON — The Sikeston Bulldogs boy’s basketball team remained unbeaten Friday night, defeating rival Cape Central 68-66 in front of a packed Sikeston Field House.

Sikeston, the top-ranked team in Class 4, held off a late surge from Cape Central, the third-ranked team in Class 4, to earn the important district win.

The win was Sikeston’s eighth-straight over their rival, and puts them in prime position to receive the top-seed in the Class 4, District 1 Tournament which begins Feb. 23 at Cape Central.

With the win, Sikeston improves to 20-0 while Cape Central falls to 18-3.

The game was also Homecoming for Sikeston with Ashley Gilman being crowned homecoming queen. (Page 2A)
