According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm system will bring freezing rain, sleet and snow to the region Friday through Friday night. The NWS said confidence in some ice, sleet and snow accumulations is increasing but the expected amounts still haven’t been determined.

Travel will possibly be impacted during the evening commute across the area, with the highs expected to be 37 degrees. Rain is likely between noon and 2 p.m. before the rain will be mixed with sleet. Rain and freezing rain will continue into Friday night, becoming all freezing rain after 10 p.m. and then gradually ending. The low will be around 27 with wind gusts as high as 22 mph.

The ice won’t stay long as Saturday will see a high of 40 and will be partly sunny.
