Dororthy Russell

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — Dorothy Jean Russell, 76, died April 6, 2019, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Born Nov. 13, 1942, in Wolf Island, to the late A.J. “Arthur” Worthy and Annie Mae Melton Worthy, she was formerly employed at the St. Louis Science Center and also in the catering business. She was of Baptist belief.

She is survived by one son, Timothy Archie of St. Louis; one daughter, Melissa Hale; four brothers, Roy Worthy of Miner, Richard Worthy of Washington, D.C., Roger Worthy of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Larry Worthy of Bertrand; four sisters, Eva Williams of Dexter, Joyce Wallace of Coudersport, Pa., and Brenda Dozier and Mary Ditto of East Prairie; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold Worthy Jr., Donald Worthy, Jerry Worthy and Roger Wayne Worthy; and three sisters, Patsy Conlin, Shirley Eye and Rebecca Garrett.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at First General Baptist Church in East Prairie with Martin Lucas, pastor, officiating.

Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
