HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — G. Tharon Anthony, 85, formerly of Oran, Mo., died Nov. 13, 2018, at Calvert Health Medical Center.
Born Nov. 15, 1932, in Hickey, Ark., to Burl Lord and Mary Rebecca (Waldo) Anthony, he graduated from Oran High School. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He had lived in Oran; Toledo, Ohio; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Baltimore; Bowie; and Chicago before settling in Huntingtown in 1994. He was employed with Federal Grain Inspection Services, retiring in 1992 as supervisor. Following his retirement, he worked at Lord Calvert Bowling in Huntingtown for 10 years. He became an ordained deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids and was a member and deacon at Bayside Baptist Church in Chesapeake Beach.
On May 30, 1954, he married Glenda Mae Clark, who survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tharon Wayne Anthony, on Oct. 19, 2018.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Cheryl Ann Jameson and husband Richard of Prattville, Ala.; daughter-in-law Stacy Anthony of Huntingtown; his twin brother, David Aaron Anthony; two sisters, Wanda Lee Smith and Glenda Lou Buchanan; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. May 23 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memorial Park at Morley.
