CAPE GIRARDEAU, — The United States Attorney’s Office announced that Raymond M. Lindsey, 39, of Hayti was sentenced Wednesday to 100 months in federal prison on child pornography charges. He appeared before United States District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. for his sentencing hearing after pleading guilty to one count of receiving child pornography last February.
The investigation began in September 2018 after law enforcement officials discovered Lindsey was uploading images and videos consisting of child pornography to a cloud storage account. Investigators subsequently obtained a search warrant for Lindsey’s residence in Hayti and seized various computers and electronic storage devices. An examination of these devices revealed the presence of numerous images and videos of child pornography. During an interview following the search warrant, Lindsey admitted that he used his computer to download the material over the internet. Lindsey further admitted that he then transferred the material to an external hard drive.
After serving his 100-month sentence in federal prison, Lindsey will be placed on supervised release for a period of 20 years. Lindsey will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
This case was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant United States Attorney Jack Koester handled the prosecution for the Government.
