One killed in Wednesday accident; Chaffee man seriously injured in accident Thursday
One person was killed in a two-car accident Wednesday afternoon near Caruthersville, Mo.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by Carlos P. Riddle, 25, of Caruthersville was traveling southbound on MO 84, one mile west of Caruthersville at 3:36 p.m. Wednesday when it crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Duane S. Michie, 80, of Hayt, Mo., head on.
Michie was transported by ambulance to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:02 p.m. by Dr. Arshad.
Riddle and his passenger, Deanna L. Payne, 25, of Caruthersville, were both taken by ambulance to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
Michie was the 23rd fatality in Troop E during 2019.
A Chaffee, Mo., man also was injured in a one-vehicle accident Thursday.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Timothy H. Schrum was northbound on Highway P in Perkins, Mo. at 1:25 p.m., when his vehicle ran off the roadway striking numerous items before hitting a culvert. The vehicle became airborne and struck a tree, ejecting Schrum.
Schrum was taken by Air Evac to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries.
