Governor visits Purina factory in Bloomfield
BLOOMFIELD, Mo. — Gov. Mike Parson visited Purina’s Bloomfield factory Tuesday during a tour of Stoddard County businesses.
Parson met with employees and discussed Purina’s $115 million expansion to increase capacity for Tidy Cats litter, which was announced in early 2019. The project will be completed in early 2021 and will add a 110,000-square-foot processing and packaging facility. During the governor’s visit, Purina officials announced that the company is investing an additional $83 million at the facility for projects that will enhance technology in packaging and warehousing, for a total commitment of nearly $200 million by 2021.
“For 125 years, Purina has been creating jobs and opportunity for the people of Missouri. This expansion in Bloomfield only builds on the company’s longstanding commitment to our state and those who call it home,” Parson said. “It is expansions and job creation like this that make us more competitive, and we look forward to Purina’s continued growth in Missouri for years to come.”
Purina employs more than 3,500 people in Missouri and has had a longstanding presence in Bloomfield since 1976. The 500,000-square-foot factory in Bloomfield currently employs more than 340 people in the Southeast Missouri region. The new projects will lead to total job growth of approximately 30 positions.
